Oppi-Pad Padstal is a perfect Karoo roadside stop! Friendly service, delicious roosterkoek with jam and cheese, home made produce, and a great spot to stretch your legs. The little shop has lovely local treats and jams. Simple, rustic, and full of charm — well worth a stop on your trip!

This is a proper padstal. Don't expect fancy or smart. It is functional and there is a reason things are the way they are at this place. Water is SCARSE! So order your roosterkoek and except that it will not be served on a plate but in a take away food bag. Use the clean rest rooms but understand that you are on a farm and it might not be what you are used to or expected. The food is great and something special that you wont find from a franchise fast food outlet. Worth a stop, a browse and a bite to eat.

Everything and more one would expect from a padstal. You will find absolutely everything here. To much to take in. Amazing roosterkoek, cake, melktert and pies. A lovely tame donkey that loves attention. Nice clean bathrooms even though its long drops. Absolutely worth a stop to stretch your legs and get a bite to eat

The only thing I miss about the road between Jburg and Mossel Bay is the opportunity it gave us to stop at Oppi-Vlak Padstal. When we got transferred from the Western Cape to Jhburg many moons ago, stopping at Oppi-Vlak Padstal during school holidays to visit grandparents, was the highlight of the road trip. And on the return journey to Jhburg it was the last nice thing to look forward to before depression set in. Now that we are finally back in our home province, we don't travel that way anymore and we are so jealous of others who still get to make Oppi-Vlak their pitstop. The hearty meals, superb coffee, excellent service and the delightful handmade gifts on sale make this the perfect place to stop and gather yourself for the journey ahead. I've seen the reviews complaining about the "longdrop" toilets. As a farmer's daughter I completely understand the water challenges the owners of Oppi-Vlak are dealing with. To those complaining, educate yourselves about the scarcity of water in this area. Your hoity-toity attitude smacks of total ignorance and is not a good look on you. Choosing to use water to either provide a flushing toilet for a passer- through's convenience or caring for your livestock is a no brainier. Come on now people, are you really that ignorant! You claim to love the Karoo and it's quirks. Then also start to understand the Karoo and it's constant need to utilise the few water sources they have astutely and very sparingly.

One of our favorite out the the ordinary stopping places! This time round we tried the curried lab pies which were simply amazing! Great selection of home made items and foods, and eclectic range of gifts.
